Pinot Gris Room

With this magnificient view on the Alsatian plain as well as riding horse in the old moat used for washing horses at the time, its name making a reference to the Pinot Gris grape, which used to be called Tokay Pinot Gris or Tokay of Alsace. The grape would have been brought over from Hungry in 1565 by the General Lazare de Schwendi who served the Holy Empire in the war against the Ottoman Empire. Since 201, the name Tokay has become Hungarian and this is why we call the grape Pinot Gris today.
